Told Haaretz newspaper:
“The significance of the disengagement plan is the freezing of the [b]peace process [/b]and when you freeze that process you prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and you prevent the discussion on the refugees , the boarders and Jerusalem. Effectively, this whole package called the Palestinian state , with all it entails , has been removed indefinitely from our agenda “
After this disengagement , Sharon focused on tightening the control over East Jerusalem and the West Bank and rapidly escaped settlement construction.
A year later when Hamas got into power
Israel imposed an air, sea and land blockade on Gaza
Cutting it from all kind of access from the outside world
And creating what British prime minister David Cameron (and endless journalists human right organizations etc ) would later describe as the worlds largest open air prison. And illegal occupation.
That blockade has continued to exist for 17 years

@Moon3624 The blockade was imposed to protect Israel from Hamas violence. Once Israel withdrew from Gaza, the people could have focused on economic development. Instead, they used Gaza as a staging ground to launch attacks on Israel in furtherance of their true goal, which is a judenrein Middle East. "From the river to the sea, Palestine will be Arab" expresses a wish for genocide.

There are 2 million Arab Israeli citizens, and only 15,000 Jews in the entire MENA outside of Israel, but Israel is the country guilty of apartheid? Israeli Arabs have representation in the Knesset, do any Jews have that in the Arab countries?

Syria has killed far more Palestinians than Israel has, but you give them a pass. My point is that they weren't kicked out the way Jews were kicked out of MENA, they stayed and became Israeli citizens.

And yeah, if Hamas surrendered and renounced violence, Israel would be forced to negotiate with them. As long as Hamas is violent, they are giving Israel an excuse to be violent in response.

@Moon3624 OK, so both sides are guilty of ethnic cleansing. At least the Mizrahi refugees are Israel citizens, unlike the Palestinian refugees in the Arab world who are being kept in permanent, multi-generational refugee status.
What was happening before Hamas was created were repeated attempts by the Arab countries to push the Jews into the sea. They've given up on that and are now gradually accepting that Israel isn't going anywhere. Notice that no Arab countries are sending their armies to help the Palestinians in Gaza.
