could anyone tell me about their experiences with schizophrenia?

i'm trying to write a story and one of the main characters is supposed to heavily imply that they have schizophrenia, but since i am aware its a heavily stigmatized disorder i would like to hear the experiences of people with it more than just doing research alone. i wanna write him in the most respectful way possible so PLEASE help me with this one
