Why do you think?

Why do you think the phrase "you know that isn't true" stops a narcissist in their tracks? They are already lying or at the very least exaggerating, why does that phrase stop them from continuing? I saw it on a TikTok and I've used it multiple times with my ex and each time he has no response, it ends the conversation.
Wish I would gave used that line a few years ago. But there's still a chance to use it and I will!!!
Thanks narcissists are very delusional, that's a good response to gaslighting
in uncertain times people kinda look 4 others to put certain breaks on them, it assists in building identity, everyone does that to some extent, and it is often compassionate to hear someone saying that. For example if you are afraid of something and confess this to a friend and they know u need reassurance...

But as often happens here 4 me I am not sure what you mean since your example was so personal and unique.

I think saying "you know that isn't true" to a full blown narcissist wont do anything and that they would twist it around on you. I also think TikTok is the last place i would take advice from
@Torsten no, his doctor did, and that's why he quit going

@Torsten I probably would have diagnosed him as a sociopath

I am going to try it.

It doesn't stop everyone if they love lying will make up stories and blame you
@SW-User I really didn't think it would work. It shows him trying to type a response, but every time he just gives up. It's so mind blowing I dreamed that I woke up to a long message of him trying to convince me I was wrong, but still nothing. Which is good, because I am way over his bullshit.

Yes, and open it wide, for me to see,
