I got an award for dealing with an challenging camper

Her behaviour were that challenging , she got given an warning because other counsolors complained about her 😞. I did not complain as I signed up for this. She were also physically agressive towards me mainly when she did not get what she wanted but never stood up for herself when other campers attacked her. I got given an award for having an special connection with her and having the paitence even though I ended up with an second degree burn due to her 🤣 I got assigned to her for two sessions in an row. Apparently , counsolors in the past had snapped because her behaviour were that challenging. Everyone hated her including the campers expect for me. She became one of my favourite campers. I got really ill after the first session with her but I were happy to have her back. I did not do well during training week so I were assigned to easy campers , until she came along and she shown everyone what I could truly handle. I really clicked with her.

May I ask? Is this a camp for special needs kids? I ask only because on the surface, you camper seems to have some autistic traits.

In any case, congratulations for taking the time with a kid who clearly needed some special attention. In this break-neck world, few stop long enough to truly regard another person. She will likely always remember this camp session and you. You changed a life. Way to go.
