When I Learned About My Nuerodiversity/Disability

A bluebird existing in a small cage,

Broken and held down with chains.

The bluebird sang, though few could hear,

That dared to pay a listening ear.

Time passed by like swollen clouds,

Spinning feeling and thought around,

Sometimes pains and skies would clear,

But never enough to release her fear.

Until one day, a robin said,

The bluebird wasn’t blue,

But a vibrant red,

Filling her with knowledge and strength,

To break free from long and solemn chains.

To fly amongst other feathered fellows,

To live a life less painful and mellow.
