I Am a Hypochondriac

The white patches from a few months ago on my gums that went away have reappeared. I am terrified this is oral cancer. It’s been a few days, and everything I read says that if no improvement within two weeks to go see the dentist/doctor. I am terrified to do so because I dont’ want the news that it’s cancer and I have to get my face cut open in order to remove it. I hope this just goes away....I have a regular check up scheduled end of next month and will bring this up...but I REALLY hope it’s gone by then ( or sooner).

It’s so odd. The white patches cleared up; but now there are a couple of sores, and now a red patch on one side of the gum. Surely if it were cancer this wouldn’t be moving all over the place in my mouth, healing in places and reappearing in others??
What you describe does not mean you are a hypochondriac. Sounds like a legitimate concern regarding your health and well being.

Thanks - I think the concern is valid. I just hate I go to worst case scenario always. It’s a huge hinderance for me actually going to the DR bc I don’t want the bad news that I’m dying. That I know, is irrational...but its what I deal with.

Check your toothpaste. Your PH might be off and you are getting canker sores.

@SW-User I’ve switched to a non fluoride toothpaste temporarily to see if that helps.

Could be thrush.

@Butterflykisses24 My mom suggested that. ESP since I just finished taking Doxcycline and prednisone. Though i’d Been off it a week and a half before the symptoms started.

@Prttylttlthng yes about right timing.take probiotic tjough think you need meds for it.
Prttylttlthng · 46-50, F
@Butterflykisses24 Yes, if thrush it won’t go away on it’s own. I’m debating on calling dentist or minute clinic tomorrow. I don’t want the bad news if it’s NOT thrush though.

I’ve never had thrush before, so cant’ tell if this is indeed what it is or not...

Do you use an inhaler?
Prttylttlthng · 46-50, F
@SweetMae No, I don’t.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
@Prttylttlthng it is most likely thrush. That can come from toothpaste, mouthwash and some medications.

Thanks everyone, you make me feel a little better. :)
