In my town theres a public government funded gym, library and old peoples lunch-and bingo place
and some door slammed for a second, the door to one of the family bathrooms, and so the teenage staff called the sheriff. But when the threatening dangerous perp wasn't found, he left and walked back to his fat van and finally some nice air conditioned office to collect paycheck and twiddle more thumb and ignore some more real societal breakdown/tragedy here.
He didn't see the menacing criminal walk in the opposite direction. And as tiny babies know, life often stops cold if some noise doesn't get made. Of course life could end if such noise is attended to.
