I Am Living With Epilepsy

Yesterday evening I had a seizure with no aura. That doesn't happen very often for me. I usually get enough of an aura that I can at least sit down on the floor. This time though, no warning at all. I was on my way home from work. Had just got off the bus and apparently a passerby saw me stop walking and start fumbling with my coat and then just collapse to the floor into the seizure. He and another man who was walking his dog called an ambulance.

By the time the paramedics arrived the seizure was over and I was starting to come round but I was very confused and combative. I also had a gash to my forehead where I'd hit it on the pavement. I don't remember but apparently I was fighting the paramedics, saying I didn't want to go to hospital but because I had a head injury they had to take me in to get checked out.

Luckily, one of the paramedics had been out to me before and recognised me. She realised that this isn't my normal behaviour post seizure and also knew that I have epilepsy and that this wasn't drink or drug related. Which is always something I worry about as a youngish woman.

I spent hours and hours in A&E being observed for a head injury and finally they let me go home because my boyfriend would be there to keep an eye on me. But I really hate this. I hate that it happened. I hate that I had to take today off work because I still feel exhausted from the seizure and foggy from the concussion. I just want to be "normal" sometimes.

That’s so awful, my girlfriend has epilepsy, I’ve only been around her when she has had mini seizures, but she had a bad one when I was on my way to meet her once. I’m looking for advice on what to do to help if god forbid she has a seizure in my company.

My BFF has severe seizure disorder, when she comes to she is temporarily amnesiac and combative. We have discovered that the Cannabis strain, Grape Ape, has in essense kept her seizures away and hasn't had any since she started vaping it. The strain is in the top five for seizure disorder and epilepsy.

I'm sorry :(

My sister had her first in year last weekend. Split her eyelid. Luckily the kids didnt see, but she's got severe concussion and cant be left alone for a few weeks. Her triggers are hormones and lack of sleep. They gave her a sleeping tablet that took her 4 days to get over. She hates it.
My sister In law has epilepsy and a good friend did wasn’t easy watching them have a fit :(

@LittleTinks I feel awful whenever my boyfriend has to watch me have one. He's amazing and he handles it but I wish he didn't have to. We're staying with his family for Christmas and I don't know if he's told them yet that I have epilepsy. I'm so worried I'm going to have a seizure in front of them.
It’s good you got support and don’t worry if you do have one it’s not like you can help it 🤗 @Psychologykate

Im sorry. I understand. 🌻
It’s like they take your rights away when you’re incapacitated for something you can’t help.
It’s not fair.
