One reason is that you are still processing this, which can be a result of your identity being tied to an expected future with this person. It's tough because when you're dating you tell yourself that this person is the person you want to be with, and then when it's over you have to somehow roll that back and realize that you're okay not being with that particular person, without just becoming completely insincere and unable to connect with people going forward.
