Gotta love my Residents!

I have a resident on my dementia unit that everyone says she's a firecracker! 😂 I haven't ever seen that side of her. She's in her 90s, and she's a true Southern Belle, and she really doesn't look her age. Whenever I go on the unit her eyes light up and she becks for me and I'll go Hi Mrs. Jones (not her real name) How are you? She'll go. Oh I'm okay, then she says you look mighty pretty today, and then y'all, she inspects me 🤣😂🤣😂 she looks me over, and she touches my dresses, looks at the hem of them, and feels the fabric. She'll wink her eye at me, and she covers her mouth and whispers I approve of you. 😂 She does this every single time I come on the unit. The nurses on the unit say she calls them her hired help. 😂 I gotta dig and see what her profession was back in the day. I'm glad she approves of me though but I can't help but think what I'm approved of......... 🫣🤫🫢🤭😂

*I don't hold my Residents accountable for what they say I've been in the medical field for so long that I know people with dementia say things that they would never say if they were in their right mind.

I had one woman i went to check on that the kitchen gave her a peanut butter sandwich instead of the ham and cheese that she had asked for.
She was in bed with the covers pulled up to her chin, the sandwich sitting on her beside table.
I offered to take the peanut butter and exchange it for the ham and cheese that she wanted.
She said, "No because come tomorrow morning I am going to take that dried up ol sandwich and shove it right up the cooks a$$."
Gotta love em.😂
