Gotta love my Residents!

I have a resident on my dementia unit that everyone says she's a firecracker! 馃槀 I haven't ever seen that side of her. She's in her 90s, and she's a true Southern Belle, and she really doesn't look her age. Whenever I go on the unit her eyes light up and she becks for me and I'll go Hi Mrs. Jones (not her real name) How are you? She'll go. Oh I'm okay, then she says you look mighty pretty today, and then y'all, she inspects me 馃ぃ馃槀馃ぃ馃槀 she looks me over, and she touches my dresses, looks at the hem of them, and feels the fabric. She'll wink her eye at me, and she covers her mouth and whispers I approve of you. 馃槀 She does this every single time I come on the unit. The nurses on the unit say she calls them her hired help. 馃槀 I gotta dig and see what her profession was back in the day. I'm glad she approves of me though but I can't help but think what I'm approved of......... 馃馃か馃馃き馃槀

*I don't hold my Residents accountable for what they say I've been in the medical field for so long that I know people with dementia say things that they would never say if they were in their right mind.

@PEACH4LIFE My grandma was a seamstress. She made my ball gown for my graduation ball. Absolutely beautiful.

@Queendragonfly ohhhhhhhhh wow! That's awesome!!! Do you know how to sew?
Queendragonfly31-35, F
@PEACH4LIFE Nope. I only hand sew diy mini projects so far. But if I had a sewing machine maybe I'd become as skilled as grandma.

@Queendragonfly that would be a great skill!!! I have a sewing machine as well I'm not great but I do okay. I wished I would've paid more attention to my relatives growing up. I had some awesome seamstresses in my family. My mother in law made my wedding dress years ago. I have it put up in my closet I think I'll hold on to it forever...

@Queendragonfly My maternal grandparents were tailors too - during WWII my grandfather made underwear out of parachute silk lol
