I Have A Loved One With Dementia

And even if you found yourself in some prison, whose walls let in none of the world’s sound—wouldn’t you still have your childhood, that jewel beyond all price, that treasure house of memories?

This is beautiful. I was a senior carer for dementia & Alzheimer’s residents it was a very rewarding but emotional job at times, for the residents I know it was a lot more emotional.

@SW-User my Dad is still at home, but I worry he's becoming beyond our care. I have Live-home Care [Monday to Saturday]. She took care of my Grandmother & Mother..now, my father, I'm with my Dad on the weekend. He fell the other night. His short-term memory is nill. He still goes over, aloud, flashes and lists, from his childhood, teenage years. I read these words from Rilke and thought of my dad.

Oh bless him & you too I know how draining it can be so you need to be kind to yourself & try not to take anything he may say personally 🤗@Adam2b

@SW-User Of course not. All of his faults as a father are forgiven. What he has given me is a gift.
