Considering that so many autistic people do struggle with "appropriate" eye contact, ranging from not wanting to give any eye contact, through giving "too much" eye contact to giving "dirty looks" - you have to wonder why so many of us make it through to middle age without actually getting an official diagnosis.
That gets so bad for me at times that I just reach the point where I refuse to look at people in case they say I'm giving them dirty looks.
