A question for our autistic members

What advice would you give to someone who is a parent to an autistic child?

What advice would you give the child?

Just be patient with them and keep loving them.... whenever they have melt downs and if they try to hurt themselves then don't shout on them or yell themmm
Be very kind and gentle towards themmm , always keep them safe from other people outside and even at schools...so they never gets in a contact with any bad company of friends because they can spoil your cutie pie 🥺 i know it's very tough for parents and also for kid who goes through autism!

I asked that to somebody that was claiming to be autistic on here, and they stopped replying.

@DeluxedEdition it's just odd that in all their posts they mention that they are autistic..
What do you think? You work with them

@Dan193 I have before once just the other day actually.

but I actually am totally new to Autism. I’m trying to learn as much as I can about it because my son was diagnosed with low to moderate autism and adhd.

They (the self proclaimed autistic users) could be autistic though. Autistic people have repetitive Tendencies

@DeluxedEdition Idk what's it like to be a parent, but I know how to be a friend to one. I learnt that it's important to be patient with them, as they tend to repeat themselves a lot. Also they obssess over small things, like you try to change the subject, because they are obviouslly annoyed with that subject, but after a bit, they return to that subject that annoys them and they keep telling u about it.

Also there's a lot of agreeing to their point of view, or they get irritated or start distrusting you. So in that case u listen to them, agree with them, maybe say what they said, but a bit differently to show that you understand them, and then if u disagree, you just bring up your point of view as a possibility and why.
