I Have a Sibling With Autism

no problem. One of my children is very lower functioning, one is higher functioning and one is in the middle.

when my son is overwhelmed and acts up sometimes people will scream at them and say they're bad kidz. they're actually not that bad, just a little difficult. they experience life a little different.

We have been in an SEN school for a few years now when we were found out to be different. In mainstream school we were shouted at a lot and it sent us totally over the edge. Mum is amazing in defending us when we find life difficult, she puts a hand up in a stop gesture to the adults and says her boys are autistic and to stop bullying us. Because there's two of us she has strategies for when we melt down her best one is to get us to hug one another because that frees her up to deal with other stuff that may be happening and know we are safe. We cope better now thanks to her. We think your kids are very lucky to have you.

thank you for sharing this story. I have 3 kidz with autism and its very hard on me. Not a lot of people understand. I always hear about some elusive supermom that could do this and do that, and so I should to. Not understanding how hard it can be with 3. And I'm the major one fighting for them. I'm not a single mom, I'm married, but I still do most of everything by myself.

Our mums family is really rich but because she didn't want to marry our dad they cut her off, we think we have a super mum, now we are getting older and understand more we try not to make her life harder. Sounds like you are doing amazing used to drive mum nuts people saying her boys were naughty, it pretty backward round here. Thanks for the reply.
