I Have Adhd

Hey! It's me again.
Awkwardly writing another post here.

I have a question, for those with ADHD/ADD and those who know someone with ADHD/ADD.

Have you or anyone who has ADHD/ADD, experienced spot amnesia?

Now I don't know if that's the official name I've heard it called many things; lacunar amnesia, blackouts, time traveling.

I use to refer it to blackouts, because it was like that. It was like I had blacked out, except without losing consciousness. A piece or spot of my memory was gone. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't remember it, I could remember before it and after but not the moment.

I came across spot amnesia when searching for "blackout ADHD" since it happened once when I was hyper focused, I found a message board with people who had similar experiences. I can't post the link here, but I'll post what they said:

"The most often incident is that while driving somewhere I will suddenly find myself closer to where I am going that I last remembered. I can vividly remember a certain turn, sign, etc. However, the miles between that and where I then find myself are just black spots in my mind."

"I have found myself places not knowing exactly how I got there. Sometimes I can remember, sometimes not."

"Oh, you mean time-traveling? I do that all the time, whether it's driving down the road or walking down the hall. It even happens when I'm sitting at my desk, all the sudden it is lunch time and I haven't done anything except stare at my monitor oblivious to the world."

Just curious to see if any others experience this, I've only had it happen twice. Once during hyper focusing and another while very tired.

My friend T had those spot amnesia moments a number of times over the years, til he got it fully medicated.

I can't speak for those in the message board whether or not they're medicated. I'm certainly not, but it's only happened twice so I would have to assume it's just when I'm low on blood sugar or very tired. @firefall

@Cannelle Yes, it seemed to be when s/he was stressed and overtired, usually after a sleepless night

Well, I think you might be hyper-focusing then zoning out, and your brain just kinda goes on auto pilot for a bit
