The way out of sleep hell is usually to completely give up. You almost have to resign yourself to the reality that you don’t care if it happens. Then distract your brain with a podcast (while laying down.) Something to occupy your thoughts and keep them away from the topic all together. Not television though. A book could work too. Or an audiobook you can hear while laying still w your eyes closed. It is that frantic desperation to rest that keeps your blood pressure high and adrenaline flowing which makes sleeping almost impossible. So that’s why distraction is a big key. Also try doing slow deliberate breathing from your diaphragm. 5 seconds in- hold 4- 5 seconds out.
