A recent case when this happened was genuinely terrifying for me was when I was in the shower. I had the tub filled with warm soapy water, with both curtains shut entirely. I was just about to pull the curtains open when I noticed an evident tugging at the further end of the shower. Disregarding it, I reached down and unplug the drain, when suddenly a loud crinkle in the shower curtain recedes to usual, then again. I watched the outline of one of the figures crash into and out of the curtain, repeatedly. I had never seen a figure try to alter something so close. So, it honestly frightened me. While the movement after the first crash continued, the sound from it had cut out. After a substantial amount of time, I finally mustered up the courage to too quickly whip the shower curtain open, one by one. To my relief there was nothing there on the other side. I then proceeded with my night as per usual.
