Why has America become so crazy? Drug abuse? More mental illness? Lack of mental health services?

"Police in Michigan arrested a naked woman who was armed with a machete on a freeway in Detroit.

"Detroit Police Chief James White said that the incident happened on Feb. 25 on the Grand River & I-96 Freeway when the woman pulled over on the side of the road, got undressed, and pulled out a machete. White said that the woman was pointing the machete at cars that were passing by, adding that the woman was naked from her waist-down. Officials had to shut down the freeway in order to handle the situation, White said."

There is something wrong in the psyche of America. Actually all over the world, but America feels like the center of it all. So much rage and anger and unexplainable violent behavior.
It used to be I'd turn on the news and see a lot of crime, but it was crime with a reason in mind. You know, man mugged and his wallet stolen, convenience store robbed, etc. Now it's mass shootings or a high school kid beats his teacher half to death or a man assaults a stranger on the street for no reason or the story you've got here.
And on and on every day.
Uncontrollable rage and erratic behavior as an epidemic. And it seems like its on the increase.

@robingoodfellow But is it really as bad as the constant stream of media makes it out to be? Crime in the US is only half of what it was at its peak.

@ninalanyon but it's a different kind of crime. I understand what you're saying, and the media these days with all the 24 hour coverage trying to fill hours does talk stuff up to a great degree. But what I'm seeing on both the local and national level are stories of crimes fueled by rage and emotional instability. Everyday.

@robingoodfellow Increasing inequality of income and wealth probably have something to do with it. Such things remind me of Michael Douglas's character in Falling Down. He reaches a point where he feels that he has no power to change his life for the better and goes berserk.
