Brick by Brick

by: Rob Paquin

All my bricks are paid for
Through a currency of pain
I've built these walls I hide behind
That help to keep me sane

I've dug a moat around it
In which my hopes were drowned
And deep within the dungeon
My love is still chained down

My castle is my prison
My kingdom just a cage
All the wishes I thought I had
Consumed by flames of rage

Just a perfect storm of fire
Burning through my skies
Hotter than the sun I knew
That set - To never rise

Feels like you wrote my story.
Great work, as always.

@LadyBronte It's written in the first person but it's not really about me.
It wasn't really about you either,

I'm sorry to hear that you identify with it.

@HikingMan Thanks. I didn't really think itnwas written with me in mind - just that I could identify with it. Glad it wasn't your story.
