@IndridCold I know. That's why I keep telling myself that I shouldn't be thinking anything weird. That he's sick and as soon as he feels better he'll tell me and we'll talk again like before. But I can't help getting paranoid and thinking he's done with me... oh well.

The uneasy feeling can be based on two or three things.
The first one is your prior relationships (not necessarily romantic) which went south, and the lack of response was one of the first signs, you'll be primed to fear just that in any other type of relationship that means anything to you.
The second one is an inherent personal trait of worrying about what people think and feel.
The third one is picking up on a change in behaviour, which you are now trying to overcome with explanations in order to shield yourself from being sad.
In most cases I would say #3 is most likely. But in this case I'd say it's not. First of all he did text you right after midnight - it was obviously something he wanted to do. If he wanted to ease out of this relationship, then it would have been an optimal solution to have 'fallen asleep' before midnight, and then excusing not having written with having a fever. But he did write afterall.
Secondly, you know he's sick. He might be one of those guys who feel like the flu is the end times. Or he's playing video games, watching tv shows and sleeping as much as possible - taking a timeout from the world.
