Being a Mental Health Therapist for me.

I’m new I just started. I’m in the last 5 months of my 4 year long program. But have gotten to be a full time therapist for 6 months now.

I love my clients and helping them grow and see the amazing quality’s they all have. It’s a beautiful gift to get to empower them. But it also gets tiring some days putting out all the emotional support and effort goes get draining. I don’t regret it as seeing the changes is worth it but I am glad I have days to rest.

Everyone deserves to have support and grow

I remember what it was like to feel new and fresh as a therapist. Doesn’t take long till burnout land unfortunately

What brought on the burnout for you? @Notladylike
@WhateverWorks Different things like any personal issues/grief etc when they happen can make it challenging to be fully present for people…The nail in the coffin for me was the early days of covid during the lockdowns. As a crisis service the demand was unprecedented and it was very hard having to go in to work as usual and be exposed when others were all in lockdown.

I’m sorry. That’s a tough place to be in. Where I live most mental health services switched over to Telehealth and clear wall dividers.. that sort of thing @Notladylike
@WhateverWorks Yeah it was the end of nearly ten years in frontline crisis response for me so it was probably the content and cortisol that caught up with me. Now I focus on training and providing clinical supervision
