Help on SW?

I think SW needs to hire professional therapists. So many here could use them. Either on call or just continually surfing about. I mean, I wouldn't see one despite probably needing one myself. 😅 😔

It sounds like a good idea, but you no more want people selling themselves blindly as competent professionals in the mental health field any more than you'd trust a physician working out of the back of Jo Ann Fabrics.

And the legaleze would bury this site.
@Graylight there's already so many who try to help others on here. And I wouldn't want any of them to claim they're professionals if they're not. I am saying maybe have one or two or whatever who would be on here to help if needs be. Somebody SW hires.

For the legalization, I was thinking not just for SW, but for all social media. Maybe not all of it needs it, but this place could benefit from it, I think.

@froggtongue and I say this with respect for the intention of your idea, mental health as a profession, and art doesn’t belong on social media. It’s a serious field of professionals and there are websites available to get assistance online. I’d be all in favor of a support group that was a safe space for people to discuss their insights and experiences.
@Graylight there may be substance to what you say. I'm not at all qualified to determine if my idea should be realized. Maybe it would do more harm than good. I just can't see it with my limit of knowledge.

But about that safe space… wasn't that the idea of SW and EP? It might have been more supportive in EP, I dare say. But here, the safe space wasn't going so well. 🤔 Hm, now that you make me think of it, maybe that has been changing. It seems to be shifting to becoming better. But there may still need to be more work to do on that end.

@froggtongue I totally understand what you're saying - there's such a need for spaces where people can talk without maybe jumping headfirst into real life therapy. I find sticking to the right topics and getting to know some users helps. Keep encouraging it; just because no one's implemented it doesn't mean there's a way not to do it. God knows we all need a little guidance and understanding.
