I think we have more accurate diagnosis now. Like when we thought mental issues were possession by the devil, we have more nuanced and more accurate diagnosing.
I also think it's true that a lot of the environment, technology, lifestyle, work etc. helps these disorders to develop easily. Similar to the fact that zoochosis exists in zoo, but not in nature. You take an animal, confine it, deprive it out if it's natural habitat and environment and it will eventually develop mental issues and disorders. They sway frantically as a result and are with actual mental disorders /diseases.
I also think some people do self diagnose and over exaggerate their issues, but I believe they're way less than what's the actual number of people with these problems. Hence not a big issue imo.
