My psychiatrist dropped me as a patient.

I'm on a medication that, if I don't get, I'll start shaking violently, hallucinating, throwing up, and blacking out.

My psychiatrist apparently can't stand me so much that she dropped me as a patient. Apparently I was missing appointments. I don't remember missing appointments. But according to her I've been missing them for at least a year. Maybe my memory is somehow so bad that I don't remember appointments that I miss.

Is that my fault? If she's correct then I'm having severe memory issues, apparently scheduling appointments, forgetting them, and not only that but forgetting them so thoroughly that I don't even realize when I miss them. That's a medical issue.

But I guess it's such an inconvenience to her that she's willing to stop prescribing me the medication I need to not end up in hospital.

So if I suddenly disappear from SW then I'm probably dead from going into withdrawals from this medication. At least my psych doesn't have to lose 15 minutes out of every three months we're apparently supposed to meet. Hope it's worth my life.

One of my psychologist had to let me go as well because I missed out on most of our appointments. So if you have missed out on a lot then I'm guessing that that's the reason, maybe you're not ready for therapy. I wasn't at that time. But that doesn't mean she should stop your meds, talk to your doctor about it!!

that’s too bad that she didn’t address this issue with you and see if she could help you before she dropped you as a patient. I would’ve thought that she would’ve called you or at least discussed it in an appointment and said hey how come you’re missing all these appointments and what can I do to help you?
Do you have a primary care physician who can prescribe the medication?

@OlderSometimesWiser I'm seeing him tomorrow to talk about it.
@SinlessOnslaught So hopefully that will solve the problem of getting the medication. Sounds like it would also be good to talk about the concerns you have about your memory.

@OlderSometimesWiser Yeah I'll talk to him about both.

@deathfairy But now that I'm on it, my body needs it. I can't just suddenly stop taking it.

@jshm2 I guess duty of care means drop the patient if they're too inconvenient.
