what do you do in this situation

[c=BF6900]when you feel 'alienated'.....the situation is i have lived on my own for 19 years in a little flat on the 3rd floor of a 4 story apartment building...i lost touch with any friends i had from the past, never had a girlfriend because ive had difficult psychological problems .....now the only support network i have are my elderly parents, mother & father and they live far away, they have been divorced for over 30 years.....i see my parents every couple of months, they drive down to see me.

but all together i feel alienated from society and people, isolated on my own, i know no one....and i'm quite the unsociable type and are quite a recluse....when i go out im usually very nervous or agitated , so i feel that keeps others away from me...........i now have a social worker and she is doing her best to get me a permanent support worker, someone to go out places with..........but she said she can't guarentee it will come about.....i see my social worker every month.

all together i'm on my own and feel alienated from people, as i mention i only have my parents for support and love..

what can i do? what would you do if you were me? i am aged 46 now.[/c]
It’s encouraging to hear you have a social worker. Work with her. Probably your best path for getting back out into the world. More specifically, among other things, I’d ask her to help you build up the strength to go visit your parents. Time is of the essence.
