I cannot understand why

Life can be hard. Life can be cruel. Illness can take up a lot, but I can not understand why someone who has so many people who love & care about them will not reach out and ask for help. Mental illness is not seen as it was 20 years, even 10 years ago. I do not understand the stigma behind mental illness and someones complete disregard for life, especially when they have so much to live for.

If a person has never experienced a mental health issue within themselves, they cannot speak competently about mental health issues, even if they are a Doctor of Psychiatric Medicine. The best they can offer you is a speculated guess that is based on what they've read about.

The problem as I see it, is that mental health issues are being given to health professionals whom have never experienced mental health issues themselves and therefore cannot fully grasp or even remotely empathize with what lies at the core of any mental health issue.

All they know for sure is what they've read in a book or what they were told by mental health Mentors whom have not necessarily experienced mental health issues either!

If you want to know what it's like to be a drug addict, don't ask a Doctor, ask a drug addict!
