There's tremendous stigma about mental illness from the media. There's tremendous stigma about mental illness from the general population.

It's currently estimated that 2.9% of the mentally ill population are violent. It's higher than the norm (+/- 1%), but hardly what it's rumored to be. That's attributed or psychosis, delusions, medication problems, hallucinations and antisocial personality traits.
