Water Fast

Currently starting a ten-day water fast. I've been a little down mentally lately. I think it's best I give my body a flush/reset. My skin already looks great. It looks very healthy and clear lol. I don't really have skin issues anyway, but something about this fast has it looking a lot more radiant than normal. I haven't done a water fast since this summer. I find that fasts help me get a clear mind when I am overthinking. Do any of you fast? If so, why do you do it?

I don't fast, although some agree that intermittent fasting is beneficial. A water fast is not. It's dangerous and you can expect to see the results disappear within 30-60 days if not sooner.

If you're going to fast, please be smart about it. There's not a doctor in the world who'd recommend this for you. What they would recommend is a patient approach to a sensible eating plan for life.

@Graylight I’ve done it several times before. I’m fine health wise. It’s never affected me negatively. I appreciate your concerns, and I have discussed this with my doctor before. I’m at a healthy weight. And I also eat healthily. I just do it a few times a year for a mental cleanse.

@Saucylover To be fair, I used to drive drunk a lot and I never died. Outcome doesn't always determine the wisdom of the path.

But what you discuss between you and your doctor is sacred, so stick with it. And more power to you for being able to do it.

@SomeMichGuy A good point, to be sure. The term 'sacred' as I used it meant only that others, as a rule, shouldn't interfere with what a patient speaks to a doctor about.

There are deplorable physicians. I've met a couple. But by and large, they know far more about the paths we're on than do we and as a rule, it's good to approach your physician with cogent trust. If you don't, you've got the wrong doctor.
