What purpose does Guilt provide?

I think the opposite of guilt is contentment.
A feeling of being at peace with yourself.
You can say no to things without the need for guilt. Always be kind to others, but learn to be kind to yourself.

Guilt is the reaction to unforgiven sin.

Sin requires faith, that there is a God, to ask forgiveness from and to not sin against.

The opposite of guilt, is the grace we feel when forgiven.

when you think about it - Guilt is probably at the fore-front of us developing as a culture.

If you can slay your fellow man without the consequence of guilt, you arent going to get very far.

Guilt, when warranted, let's you know that you did something wrong and you need to do something to make amends. It's part of having empathy and remorse.
