I Have Erectile Dysfunction

50% of men will have some form of impotence in their 50's and it increases 10% with each decade. The sad thing is most men do not want to talk about it. I believe it would help us by talking about it and letting each other know we are not alone.

What's worse... most dont want to admit they have a problem with ED and make excuses to their partner instead of doing something about it.

@Pauly Its his loss all the way around.

There are several links on the internet that discusses how to discuss impotence with your doctor. Hopefully if he read some of those it would help him have the courage to discuss it with his doctoe. @IBHappy

@Pauly Its now his problem alone. I tried to help to no avail. I have since moved on.

I wonder about those statistics too. What is their source?

I can see it may be very disappointing and frustrating in a relationship, as IBHappy says.

Pauly may well be right. Obviously his suggestions won't work for everyone, but as he says obliquely, don't be afraid to try them.

I have to confess though I don't find my own near-impotence and growing barren-ness a problem. I did find it disappointing for a while, but realised I can do nothing about it, and being single anyway it's not worth my worrying about it. I do realise others even if single too, may not agree but I find it best to regard it as just a function of age, like losing my hair, and live with it.

With one friend suffering from MS, another from Alzheimer's Syndrome; and both my parents dying after long illnesses; I can think of far more frightening health prospects than impotence.

[c=#4C0073]it doesnt and shouldnt diminish their worth ..
most men feel their worth has eroded when ED or impotence sets in .. society needs to be educated to be supportive instead of poking fun like they always do ..
humans 🤦‍♀️[/c]

@SW-User thank you for being so sportive and understanding.

@ArishMell it is Ego diminishing to let a buddy or group of buddies know you have ED. What do we have with our group of peers, our sexual virility, and to let them know you cannot perform sexually destroys the image we want them to have of us. A couple of my friends have snickered and a couple have been supportive. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is impotent, but none of them have admitted that they have ED.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Pauly Might depend a lot on what sort of people your buddies are, of course. At least two of yours understand.

...and just because we suffer from impotenance doesn't mean we don't enjoy Stimulation! Oral and fondling a soft one can be satisfying to both parties. I believe a lot of folks are afraid to try!
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Pauly A very good point! Oral is not for me but I can still enjoy fondling. I think it's close contact and companionship that really matter.
Pauly · 70-79, M
@ArishMell absolutely! There are times j find such satisfaction in holding and being held. It’s the feeling of being loved that we crave!

Those statistics are astonishing to me! There must be a lot of frustrated wives out there...

I am in the same situation most likely due to diabetes. But I'm working on it.
@rjc36 Def the diabetes. Get your ass on a healthier diet and some exercise!!
Pauly · 70-79, M
Does not necessarily mean he is over weight or eats an unhealthy diet. Some are born diabetic. @Notmesam

@wheels1972 that does seem like it would hit hard.

Seems the comments to your post are more criticism and demeaning than assisting...
Here for support, brother. Get it checked out and let's talk about it.
