@billstickers Good one !
If you've ever purchased a frozen meat pie you probably have
helenS · 36-40, F
When I was a child, we ate horse meat from time to time. We didn't have the money to be picky.
helenS · 36-40, F
@TheOrionbeltseeker I have two walnut trees behind my house! 😏
This year's crop was great. Those walnuts will feed me for weeks to come.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@helenS You see my broader prospect now? 😎
helenS · 36-40, F
@TheOrionbeltseeker Oh yes! 🌷
Cause Sea Lions aren't available and we'd start horsing around. Can't have that during business hours, sorry!

You're right! Alistair Overeem does eat horse meat. It's a high protein diet. We all know have seen fight skills. He's a great MMA fighter. 😇

However, Horse is a beautiful creation of God. I won't eat it. Though, every creation of God is beautiful but the ones I adore I can't eat them.😇

@SoLeRiMix @SoLeRiMix Plants are beautiful too and as much alive as an animal. Just a thought to ponder over. It is an stigma where eating veggies is considered as not harming anyone. So many plants, granular plants are put to death and they can't even scream just for our 1 meal which could have been just 1 chicken or fish.
@TheOrionbeltseeker Ah, but chickens scream. No can kill. Anymore. 😭 Once was one time too many 🤦‍♀️😱🤯
@TheOrionbeltseeker But you're absolutely right. Scientists have discovered that plants do have feelings. We just can't hear them and they even communicate with each other and give a certain sound out to the others to warn them, if a threat is present. I read an article where it said they do sense when there is a threat to them. And they DO have their own type of suffering when cut, but they can't scream. I think that's sad. And some people just go along and pull them up, just to be doing something and I don't like watching them die when they're in the vase, so I don't pull up flowers or try to hurt them. 😁

@jshm2 Probably not in the US.
It's not illegal to eat horse meat in the United States. However, it is illegal to sell a horse for commercial human consumption. Though no federal laws ban the consumption of horse meat, some states have explicit laws prohibiting the sale or slaughter of horses intended for human consumption.
Consider this: you're a medieval peasant. You've got 1 horse if you're lucky. It plows your fields, pulls your wagon, and carries heavy things for you. Why would you ever eat it unless the only alternative was starving to death?
Or, you're a medieval lord. You have several horses. They were all very expensive because they have been bred and trained for war. Every one you eat is one you can't put a cavalryman on in the next battle. How many are you going to eat?
OggggO · 36-40, M
@LadyGrace That's the thing, we don't do it now because they didn't do it then. Horses got classified in our cultures as "not for eating" and have stayed there ever since.
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@OggggO if only you would have seen the group and the subgroup of the post.

@FreeSpirit1 did you take the saddle off before cooking
FreeSpirit1 · 51-55, F
@saragoodtimes It's hard to cook if someone's riding you 🤭

I am sure you would be surprised what foods actually have horse meat in it
they say neigh when you try to take them to the slaughterhouse

The French do, and some regard it almost as a luxury. A few years ago I stopped for lunch at a restaurant near the border between France and Switzerland. It was advertising a special deal on horse steaks. When the waitress took our order, she looked round furtively and whispered that they also had beef. That was what we had, and it was excellent.
In UK we probably did without realising 🤣🤣
@CheekyBadger Now, that there's funnie, I don't care who ya are.

Because some animals are more majestic than others.

The Canucks mix in horse meat in their ground beef. I have never had a burger in Canada that wasn't dry and gross. Sadly alot of the horses come from here.

Canned pet food is often horse meat
TrashCat · M
People don't have the patience to cook horse. It needs to be brazed and cooked on low heat for a long time so the meat falls off the bone.
Perhaps they are been saved for those rainy days which won't be arriving soon.
calicuz · 51-55, M
It's actually considered a delicacy in some cultures.
melbeacher · 56-60, M
I have eaten horse meat in Mongolia and it was quite good. Very lean.
scrood · 31-35
Might have to soon . . .
Some people do.
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Many people do.
DDonde · 31-35, M
We need to ride them though
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@DDonde Seems logical
Montanaman · M
"They shoot horses don't they." 🤔🎬
TheOrionbeltseeker · 36-40, M
@Montanaman They used to.
Unquestioned · 70-79, M
Because very soon we are going to need them. I hope we can grow enough grain to feed them.
