Figure this equation: Probability+ Scepticism+ Conditioned behavior: [I Am Comfortable With Mathematical Equations]

I side stepped a girlfriend as she undertook a social experiment. A Phych major she is.

So... In a plastic grocery bag was a brand new Iphone and Brand new Apple Airpods max headphones. In their respective unopened packaging. 1500$

We approached 87 random people on a very busy strip. The target was 100. Tourist, couples, both single men and women.

A single question: Would you like a free gift?

86 replies varied from mostly..." No thank you" " No I'm good" .... To just plain blank.

Are we Conditioned to expect a scam? A need to pay something? What?

Girl number 87 said sure. She got a cool surprise.

There's actually a scam like this, they offer you free shit, then demand payment once you accept it

@hidingrighthere Okay... No clip board... No forms... No nothing. An extended plastic bag containing 1500$ in free crap. Nothing more.

That thinker in our heads fills in all those other blanks perhaps 馃
@Trippy Nah I was warned about this when I was traveling overseas, people don't accept free things because usually they're never "free". It's thanks to conditioning of our environments that has resulted is this massive distrust of our fellow human beings.
You don't hear that many feel-good stories of people who accept free things, just horror stories of people that accepted free things that resulted in them getting in trouble.
