@Straylight of course! 😁

One third of pi multipled by the square of the radius
Radius is 4,squared is 16
Multiply by pi is 50.26
One third of that is final answer 16.75
Best I can do.

@tallpowerhouseblonde Yes that's what I had also assumed, see below.
It was just a guess, I did not calculate.

@helenS I did briefly think it was a quarter because it's easier to work out,the radius squared and the quarter cancelling each other out but changed my thinking to a third of a circle.

Tree fiddy pi

Neat. Fun diversion.
Odd to give a specific radius, yet ask for an answer in terms of π...very odd.

@SomeMichGuy actually when you see my workings it will make sense
SomeMichGuy · M
@InOtterWords Ok. 😊👍 I did it for a general 'r', but that's typical.

@SW-User my answer is almost similar
You probably didn’t multiply by 2 for the area of the the intersections?

No I can’t answer it - do I get Best Comment for honesty 😂😂😂😂😂
InOtterWords · F
@Dlrannie i'll give you best comment if no-one gets it
SW-User
Only commenting because I like mathematics.
helenS · 36-40, F
Just a guess, I really didn't calculate, but I think the middle circle is divided into three equal parts. If its radius is given by r, then the green area should be π*r*r/3
Or maybe not? 😐

This is the gcse question everyone has been kicking off about
InOtterWords · F
@SW-User yes, my daughter sat this paper
SW-User
Lol I don't remember the formula. Also you said no cheating allowed. Sorry 😅
IamBack · 31-35, M
(-80pi/3) - (32(3^.5))
Hope it’s correct

@IamBack will post the answer a little later

@InOtterWords tag me plz when you do 😌
Muthafukajones · 46-50, M
Why do you need this. It’s not even hard?
InOtterWords · F
@Muthafukajones you have solved it? Within the time limit without a calculator?
Classified · M
Sorry, my head is not fit for this right now. 😅
Otters are good at maths

16 x (sqr3 — pi/3) in sq cm
Rough scratching my working gave:
(arccos(0.5))/pi - 2*squareroot(12)
High likelihood of mistakes.
Yes, errors. More like:
8*sqrt(12) - 16pi/3
