For those who own/owned their own horse/horses , how did you know you were ready for the commitment ?

For some context , I had been around horses and helping out on farms around 3 years before I even started riding them. I had volunteered and helped out at stables on the weekends during the time I did ride. I rode for 6 years as most already know. Its not something that should be taken lightly.

I think it would be wonderful if you had a place to keep it. Some people own horses and keep them miles away where they can only visit on weekends - and not every weekend. Animals need their humans to interact with them on a regular basis.
