What would you have done?

As I change employers, and my phone number changes, I made one last call today to someone who had no access to me except through that one phone on my desk. The last time i had spoken was 6 months back or more. And her first words were: "I have been thinking of you all day!"
I asked "Is that something common or routine?"
She shot back "Of course not! Just today"
"But why"
"Don't know why today. But i need someone to hold who can give me peace and not ask anything in return"

Silence

"Why me?!"
"There's no one else"

Silence.
