I Am In Love
Yesterday my boyfriend and I wentn ut to eat at a cheap diner. As we're sitting there in the booth waiting for our breakfast plates at seven at night, he starts talking about work and saying how he hopes to find other employment but enjoys what he does nonetheless. Since he's sitting next to me and not across from me (I told him my preference and now he happily sits next to me when he can) I have to turn to look at his face. And as I'm watching him complain to me and laugh with me, I decide to really look into his eyes, and I see two things.
The first is that his eyes aren't just a pretty shade of brown as I had once thought. A beautifully subdued green surrounds the brown in his eyes. How had I not seen it before? Either way, for the first time, I got lost in someone's eyes. It took me a minute to come back from it, and when I did, the only thing that came out of my mouth was how pretty his eyes were and did he know he had green in them? He didn't.
The second thing I saw was happiness. Even talking about his stressful work, his face was bright and smiling. He was happy, not because he was complaining about work and not because we were getting breakfast for dinner, even though it was seriously amazing. He was happy because he was sitting in a booth with me. Me. I make him happy. I put that sparkle in his eye and that smile on his face. Me.
I don't think I've ever felt so good to be me before last night. I just hope that I in turn give him that same happy, bright face that he gives me, because this man makes me happier than I ever thought I could be.
What a great world I live in, now that he's in it.
