I still miss EP

I still miss EP. Maybe EP was better than SW. Maybe I delude myself into the believe that EP was the awesome after shutting down 10 years ago.

An archaelologist sorts through faded and crumbled remains, looking for clues on a society no longer there.

In a similar manner, I sift through wreckage, trying to put together a long-dead social network.

And archaeologist has more hope than me.

The relics of EP....The fine people. The great stories. The sharing. The caring. The connections. It is perhaps best to leave them in our memories. Cherish those who still show up and value us. EP was the most grand site in its day. We know it. And it can never be that way again. Hold onto the people who remain in your life from there. That is a choice too.
never knew about EP, was never aware of that, but i relate 'sort of' because i greatly miss yahoo answers, it was a great community there, i was very popular and liked on it, joined it in 2006 and was on it until it's close down in 2019 sometime. 👊🏻

I advice you to talk to family, friends and find therapy.
Missing EP, can get really extreme in certain cases... don't go into the rabithole, don't follow the light my boy. 👬

I was one of the Founding members of EP when it launched in 2005 and I was 13 years old at the time, which was also the minimum age to join as a member.

At its launch date, EP was a website that was dedicated to sharing travel experiences and life experiences with young Muscular Dystrophy patients under the age of 20 who were either bedridden or simply never left the house.

That site operated in that capacity from 2005 to 2010, at which point EP was sold.

From 2010 to 2015, EP with it's new Webmaster, abandoned their involvement with sharing travel and life experiences and instead took on a new direction where it became nothing more than a wild west show, which near the end was completely un-Moderated and functioned like a freight train going down hill out of control.

Eventually, EP derailed itself in 2015 and left a smoking hole in the ground where it landed after running itself off a cliff at full throttle.

SW got started the following year in 2016 with the intention of being a 'replacement' for EP, but not a replica of what EP once was.

For one thing, SWs web platform is not capable of being 'just like' EP's was because both systems were very different from each other, meaning that what was done on EP was not possible to do on SW.

SW was never intended as an identical working model of EP, nor did SW ever promise that it would be!

What SW is today, is a Q&A format design whereas EP used a conversation-format that incorporated a FAR broader web design which allowed all conversation titles to be displayed on your screen at all times, making it easy to find what you're looking for at a glance.

SW was never designed to be a socially interactive website from the get-go like EP otherwise was.

SW was designed to be more like a game of solitaire where you could show up alone and play cards with yourself and not talk to anyone at all, yet spend hours doing it.

I have often referred to SW as be a virtual game of 'Trivial Pursuit', which in fact it is... which isn't a bad thing, but it is what it is nonetheless!

If you like playing mindless games of Trivial Pursuit (which I hate), then SW is for you!

Why was EP better than SW now? Aren't many of the same people on here to connect with if you had friends on the other site? What exactly is so different?

@mossyboots Rose-tinted spectacles! We're all older now lol. Most of my old friends from EP (those who made the transition) have dropped by the wayside but I've made new ones - including people who I didn't know on EP
