Wonderful people

There are people in the world, who are gone now, and who left us never knowing how much they were adored.
Some of the most introspective and lonely people are also some of the most wonderful.
They might make us laugh, make us think, make us pause for a moment…or even change our lives completely.
We think of them often, and we miss their face. We admire their qualities and wish they could be a part of our lives.
And usually it is that distance that allows us to see wonderful things in people.
It’s often better if we don’t think that we know them.

But they are a part of our lives!

It’s not memory. It’s them whispering on the wind. When we adjust our course, it’s them subtly turning the wheel. When we are seized by unexplained fear, it’s them again, silently shouting, “Get away from here.”

When we lay down at night, they are there, a weightless hand stroking our hair. “You are safe. Rest.” When we rise in the morning to a sunrise too beautiful to be real, they say, “Get out there and greet the new day.”

We just think we are talking to ourselves.
