Paying it forward

The lord and master and i were on our way out of an art exhibition at the Royal Academy when one of the security people (female) stopped me, saying she LOVED my outfit. I'd been all for getting the bus to Victoria station, but suddenly I was energised to walk through Green Park, past Buckingham Palace, etc. And then an American woman came galloping up to me and said "I love your colours," and galloped off.
I felt so good! I determined to do the same, to pass good feelings on. It costs nothing and goes a long way.
One sunny day i was shopping locally and saw a woman about my own age in a bright dress. She looked a bit self conscious, so i remarked, "wow you look fabulous." She looked scared, as if anyone who addressed her must be giving an insult. A poor start to my paying it forward. Ah well. You cant win them all. But as i continued shopping, about ten minutes later i spotted her walking on the other side of the road, her head held high, smiling. She looked at me and beamed. i did that. I made a stranger really happy

@Meettom855 It gave me as big a buzz as it gave her. I recommend giving non-transactional compliments

@damselfly I completely agree with you.

@SteveTomms motive behind the motive doesnt matter much. I do it because i remember how good it made ME feel, and if i can do it for someone else i get it all back

My wife has always made full-skirted summer dresses. When we go into town she will usually get a few compliments in passing, from other women. I feel a bit neglected! It puzzles me that people are admiring of these dress styles and yet they are completely out of fashion.

@Really Thanks for sharing. I believe sometimes we get so preoccupied with ourselves that we forget to appreciate the small things in life. So happy to hear that others do appreciate the dresses that your wife makes.

@Really They are probably recognisably (to others) works of art.
