We've been married over 50 years, and it's a good thing we have changed over the years. I wouldn't be able to keep up with that frisky woman of 35 if she hadn't grown old with me.
Magenta · F
My parents were married for a little over 60 years.

In a way it's true about changing over the years, yet at the core we are always still the same human. Mostly it's our roles and situations that change.

Falling in love with the same soul is a romantic fantasy and not reality. Living through all of those years together with all of it's challenges and struggles is what commitment is.

That’s true

Keep working at it.

@peterlee If you have to keep working at it, then you are doing it wrong.

@peterlee Poor woman.
Asking Google AI Mode the exact same question will get you the expanded version.

The overarching secret to staying married for 60 years is learning to love different versions of the same person.Couples who reach diamond anniversaries emphasize that longevity is not about keeping things exactly the same; it is about deliberately choosing each other through inevitable personal evolutions, shifting life seasons, and hardships.

Etc, etc...

How long have you been married for?
Baremine · 70-79, C
What God has joined together let no man put asunder.
I agree with you and I don't.
I was 15 and she was 17 when we met. We married 4 years later. Our 59 anniversary is in December.
God, forgiveness, commitment.

This is such a beautiful way of looking at marriage. ❤ We often expect people to remain the same, when in reality, life keeps changing all of us. The real beauty is in continuing to choose, understand, and fall in love with each new version of the person beside you.
I can only tell you why for 57 years it takes commitment and love and a lot of work and you have to be honest to each other.....

@ThePrisoner right on
gregloa · 61-69, M
That’s not true. People just don’t change.
sree251 · 41-45, M
