When someone says 'I love you' in an adult romantic sense, what does it actually mean?

Commitment? Trust? Respect? Acceptance? Desire? Lust? Other things?

I'm far from perfect with all of this, and I openly admit that I've made plenty of mistakes when it comes to my relationships.
