@Nightwings no that falls under personality. I would prefer my gf to have some sort of skill or problem solving ability that would be beneficial to a relationship. I want to have something to appreciate about her and learn something from her.

@GuyWithOpinions I would say it's the other way around; capability, having a skill or problem solving abilities are part of someone's personality, but compatibility is about how well the two you fit together, so that can't be part of just one person's personality.
That aside I totally agree, it's super important that they have their own thing, and their own drive. I find that people can become overly dependent on their partner when they don't. And yes, it's also important that our partner has something that we can admire and appreciate, like you said.
