Is love transactional? Why/ why not?

What’s your experience? I’ve heard that only relationships are transactional.. not necessarily love. I’d like to think true love transcends all boundaries.

I've never been one for transactionality in either love or friendships. I'll do things for people I like without counting the returns, if any. I don't think it's relationships or love that are transactional or not. It's people and how transactional they are. As such, you'll get very different answers based on who you are speaking to.
