How do you get your mind off someone you miss intensely?

Watching TV and playing around online aren't helping. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I had that problem in college when my girlfriend was at another university. I know studying calculus, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics doesn't work. It was only when I was playing football or baseball that I could get her off my mind for a little while.
