Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with

water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. (Ephesians 5:25-28).

And the two verses before that say : “Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.” Ephesians 5: 22-24

@hippyjoe1955 Yeah, but I think we men focus too much on the responsibilities of the wife when we should focus more on our responsibilities.

@RocktheHouse I think both of the injunctions run contrary to our fleshly desire. We men don't want to ask our wives to submit to us. We don't want to put up with the static. However if we love our wives we do ask them to submit since that is love.
