None, and not at all. Give me material to read, but anyone speaking for more than one minute will make me sleep
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@Elessar Podcasts help me sleep.
Not the political ones because they make me angry and depressed. The football ones make me angry and depressed when my team loses.

Dire consequences of the footballization of politics, at least in football sometimes my team wins..

Well Theres Your Problem is an endless delight. Irreverent leftists talking about engineering disasters. Podcast with an accompanying slide show.

@CountScrofula I've been listening a bit.
What if Chapo Trap House covered historical engineering problems?

@Burnley123 Basically yeah, without as much of the Chapo baggage. The hosts are all wonderfully wholesome.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@CountScrofula I don't know much of the Chapo baggage but I have heard them make a few sexist jokes. Their politics are generally good and they are funny but the brochalist tag does seem to fit.

Alistair Campbell & Rory Stewart 'The Rest is Politics' is pretty good.

My favourite podcast is "The Insanity of Burnley."

@Burnley123 Really good pod. I think they strike the right balance with their analysis, the right amount of detail, and humor as well. I find their take on American history I'm already familiar with really refreshing, too.
Tom Holland's brother, James Holland, is a co-host of "We have Ways of Making you Talk" which is a very in-the-weeds WW2 podcast.

@Burnley123 Stewart and Campbell are two odd bedfellows to work together on anything really.
And I've no doubt they'd both deny being white; relatively middle-class; relatively middle-income characters discussing issues that unlikely affect either of them.
Maybe it's that that's interesting

@Picklebobble2 I listen now and again but their core political mage is against people like me. Campbell has been instrumental in kicking the left out of the labour party and he was also instrumental in the Iraq war.
I also can have friendly conversations with people who have different politics but these guys represent the post thatcher consensus and nothing will change for the better whilst people like them are in power
I think Stewart is actually more interesting and is to the left of Campbell on foreign policy. It's because he served in the forces and has read a lot about the ME. Though he got the US election badly wrong.

I haven't listened to podcasts in years
I'd rather have searchable text over audio or video any day, and if Google News had a feature to hide all items that are video-only I'd be making use of it with my other Google News customizations, rather than just completely hiding a source that posts both text and video items (which to me is a nuclear option)
