Podcasts, whats your poison?

What podcasts do you listen to and what is it about? I listen to horror podcasts, Mr Ballen, Run Fool! And Booze and Boos! I started a new one yesterday i cant think of the name of it but it scared the bejesus out of me. It had one story about a guy who has the Ring of Solomon its a ring that you wear after making a pact with the devil. You have to sacrifice someone, he killed his grandmother. He is given $15,000 a day to spend and he has to spend it all in one day and not share with anyone. He did anyway and demons attacked him. The ring won't come off of his finger. He says that several celebrities have them also. It creeped me out.

A Podcast of Unnecessary Detail, BBC Crowd Science, The History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps, BBC Inside Science, BBC Inside Health, BBC More or Less: Behind the Statistics, Not Just the Tudors, BBC Short Cuts, BBC The Infinite Monkey Cage, and a few more occasionally.

@ninalanyon Oh, I didn't know that. One of the strengths of the BBC is its ability to creat programmes like that, which I don't suppse many other do.

The one thing that does irritate me a bit with programmes like that though, is historians' innate inability to understand verb tenses!

@ArishMell Very few broadcasters have people like Melvyn Bragg available and are also big enough to be able to afford to make programs that appeal to a niche audience without cutting into their operating expenses.

But now that podcasting is taking over from broadcasting the costs are dramatically lower and there are a number of high quality podcasts that have some of the same qualities. My favourites of the moment are Not Just the Tudors by Suzannah Lipscomb and The History of Philosophy Without Any Gaps by Peter Adamson. Both invite subject matter experts but unlike In Our Time usually only one at a time.
