Turn World Universe Shout Notice Stop
She let go of his hand and turned to walk away. The water circling her ankles, splashing up her thighs, giving her goosebumps. She did not notice, she could not feel anything physical.
Her heart was breaking, the universe was shouting at her heart, screaming at her mind, telling her that she should stay with him. Make this work, let him hold you, give him another chance, repeated over and over, ad nauseum. She heard all of the protests, but it would not stop her. She had tried for so long, it was time to face the icy truth. Her heart had been broken, her mind had too many unanswered questions, and she would not pretend to be ok anymore.
It was then that she finally took notice of the ochre sun, rising over the soft ocean waves. Letting go hurt, but there was a new world ahead of her. One that might be terribly lonely, but one that would cause her less pain. She wrapped her arms around herself and gave herself a hug. This affection would have to give her the comfort she needed. This would have to suffice.

This is a sweet sadness to this-and yet it offers a chance for a new beginning. The trick is divesting ourselves of past feelings and attachments. The ocean is good for that. This was bittersweet but adorable.
