I don't know what sort of books that you're reading but that's wrong. Let me try define what I mean. What is a correct 'purge'?
An Augustine purge refers to a concept, derived from St. Augustine's writings, of an internal cleansing or spiritual purification of the mind, heart, or soul from sin, doubt, and self-love to orient it towards God and spiritual truth. This process of inner purification is often described using metaphors of light dispelling darkness and cleansing the soul, as seen in his Confessions, and aligns with the scriptural idea of being made clean by God's word and grace.
The key words in there are: to go off the self-love. Too many of so-called Christians even on here still have that. Full of themselves. Can't accept the human format and talk out of their arse whenever mentioning what Christ told us to do. If you're not feeling any anger about the mis-teachings of Christ's message, well, you're not human any more
